The Los Angeles
School Police Department is responsible for providing 24-hour
police services to a jurisdiction covering 710 square miles,
approximately 877,000 students, 78000 teachers and staff, and
1100 schools and admin offices. The Los Angeles School Police
Department services LAUSD schools located in the following
cities: Cudahy, Gardena, Huntington Park, Lomita, Maywood, San
Fernando, Vernon, West Hollywood, Bell, Bell Gardens, Carson,
Hawthorne, Inglewood, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Monterey Park,
Rancho Palos Verdes, South Gate, and Torrance. Every high school
has at least one Police Officer assigned to the campus and every
middle school has one Police Officer or School Safety Officer
assigned to the campus.
